"Fugro Galaxy" taken over

The "Fugro Galaxy" will be operated by Fugro Survey Ltd of Aberdeen

It is the second of Fugro’s FSSV series of dedicated survey vessels built at Fassmer shipyard in Berne, Germany. Designed to Fugro specifications and fitted with the latest survey equipment these are the most advanced vessels of their type.

The 65 m long new vessel will be able to carry out the full range of site and route survey tasks to obtain the high resolution data necessary for safe, efficient and cost-effective planning, design and engineering activities for the installation of pipelines, platforms, manifolds, wind turbines and other seabed structures.

The specially designed hull form, resilient engine mounts and rudder propeller design maximise station keeping and navigational control, ensure acoustically quiet running at survey speeds and keep the vessel’s carbon footprints to a minimum, as Fugro states.

The consulting company Fugro, providing measurements and interpretations of data related to the earth's surface, formally took delivery of its new-build vessel "Fugro Galaxy".
