FSG launches RoRo vessel for Turkish shipping company

At the launch ceremony in Flensburg

German shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has announced the launch of the new RoRo vessel Meleq for the Turkish shipping company Alternative Tasimacilik (Alternative Transport, or AT).

It is scheduled for delivery from the shipyard in Flensburg, Germany, in February 2017 to join AT’s fleet on the Turkey-Italy route.
Meleq has an overall length of 209.79m, a beam of 26.0m and will be able to carry a total of 283 trailers (4,100 lane metres) at a service speed of 21.3 knots.
FSG says it is the world’s biggest builder of RoRo vessels with 43 units delivered between 2000 and 2016, a total of 1.2 million gross tons. Of the six ships it currently has under construction, four are RoRo vessels. The other two are a well-intervention vessel and a RoPax vessel.
