FSG clinches RoRo order

Flensburger Schiffbaugesellschaft (FSG) has won an order for a 210m-long RoRo ferry, with an option for a second vessel, from IVP Ship Invest, a company within the Tennor Holding group.

The order, which could be worth EUR 140 million, is the first deal closed by FSG since Tennor Holding, a global investment company set up by entrepreneur Lars Windhorst, took control of the shipbuilder earlier this year.

The “made in Germany” design feature a range of innovative features including “unmatched low fuel consumption” and FSG’s unique loading system, which has already proved popular with a range of RoRo operators.

Philipp Maracke, the shipbuilder’s CEO, commented: “This order is an important building block for the future of the Flensburg shipyard. Construction is scheduled to start in December. I know how much our 360 employees are looking forward to finally being able to develop and build highly efficient vessels again. Lars Windhorst has thus kept his promise to support the FSG in a difficult situation.”

The first vessel is due for delivery in April 2022. It will have a capacity of more than 4,000 lane-metres and accommodation for 12 drivers and 34 crew.
