Four Svitzer tugs to be built in Brazil

(Sketch: INACE)

The 23.8m-long and 11m-wide tugs of type Rapport 2400 will be delivered in 2017. Engines will be supplied by Caterpillar which in turn has an order for eight Cat 3516C engines and eight C4.4 generator sets. Part of the Maersk Group, Svitzer had earlier in 2015 acquired a controlling shareholding in Brazilian harbour towage company Transmar Servicos Maritimos, now known as Svitzer Brazil. The new harbour tugs will join an existing fleet operating along the Brazilian coast.

Danish towage and offshore group Svitzer has ordered four 60-tonne bollard pull harbour tugs from Brazil’s INACE (Indústria Naval do Ceará) shipyard in Fortaleza.
