FOSV delivered to operator in Dubai

Completion of the PETRA-1 was marked during a ceremony at Triangle’s facility in Dubai Maritime City.
Designed by the UK’s Camarc, the new "state-of-the-art" FOSV is uniquely suited to meet market demand for a support vessel in terms of speed, fuel efficiency, crew comfort and payload, MC2 and Triangle said. The hull is designed to optimise the power required to exceed speeds of 30 knots, combined with excellent seakeeping and a wide operational envelope. The design features a spacious deck area of 140m2 and large fuel cargo capacity of 100 tonnes.
Adib Abdel Massih, CEO of MC2, said PETRA-1 would support oil and gas operations in the Arabian Gulf.
The all-aluminum FOSV is classed by Bureau Veritas with an unrestricted navigation notation and features a triple screw installation of 3xCAT C32 diesel engines, each rated at 1450hp. A full-width main deck cabin maximises space for up to 100 personnel, and there is a twelve-person VIP lounge and high-quality interior finish. The full-width superstructure has been designed for roll angle tolerance; specific fendering and recessed windows further improve the protection when alongside. The vessel will be utilised for transportation of offshore personnel, cargo, and supply of fuel and fresh water.
Increased redundancy is provided through the installation of twin bow thrusters, twin anchors, triple generators and independent steering. Furthermore, the vessel has been fitted with state-of-the-art integrated navigation systems, Triangle said.
