Floating liquefied natural gas production vessel to be built

The company has already converted three ships into floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), of which Keppel has converted two. According to Golar LNG, use of the existing Moss LNG vessels, proven topside liquefaction technology together with the appointment of Keppel to undertake the engineering and conversion enable its FLNGVs to facilitate the efficient development of gas monetisation opportunities when it comes to cost and schedule. The target gas supply for these units will be pipeline quality gas, lean associated reserves and, potentially, lean gas from otherwise stranded fields.
The first FLNGV will have a capacity of up to 2 million tonnes per annum and will utilise the existing 125,000m³ of LNG storage on board the carrier. According to the company, the first unit is expected to be ready for production in the first quarter of 2015. Golar retains the option to convert two additional vessels with Keppel under the same agreement.

Bermuda–based company Golar LNG Ltd, Hamilton, has announced an agreement for the development of the company's first floating liquefied natural gas vessel (FLNGV). The agreement with Keppel Shipyard Limited is based on the conversion of three Moss LNG carriers in the Golar fleet.
