First ship for Chinese market delivered to Dream Cruises

The Genting Dream was handed over in Bremerhaven

The first-ever Asia-based premium cruise line brand, Dream Cruises was launched in November 2015 by cruise and resort operator Genting Hong Kong, part of Malaysia’s Genting Group.
Dream Cruises' first ship, the 151,300gt Genting Dream is 335m long, 39.7m wide and can reach a speed of more than 23 knots. Environmentally friendly marine engines, diesel-electric pod drives and improved hydrodynamics as well as numerous energy-saving measures, heat recovery and ballast-water cleaning all contribute to an "ecological cruise experience" and considerably reduced operating costs, Meyer Werft says.
With a crew of about 1,700, the ship offers its passengers – capacity is 3,348 – a wide range of special features and comfort. About 75% of the cabins are outer ones and most have their own balcony. It also carries two small submarines that can take four people each to a depth of 200m.
There are 35 restaurants and bars, various entertainment facilities such as theatres, bowling and a climbing park as well as plenty of space for other outdoor activities. The ship has a 142-suite Genting Club that offers guests special privileges such as an exclusive VIP pool and a separate spa area. What's more, Genting Dream is the first cruise ship to have a magnetic resonance tomograph on board.
Construction of the ship was backed by innovation grants from the German Economics Ministry and state of Lower Saxony, where the shipyard is located.

The German shipbuilder Meyer Werft has handed over the new luxury cruise liner Genting Dream, designed for the rapidly developing Chinese cruise market, to Dream Cruises.
