Höegh Target is the first of six vessels - developed in close cooperation with Deltamarin - the shipowner will take delivery of in the next 18 months. With its deck space of 71,400m2 and carrying capacity of 8,500 CEU (car equivalent units), the vessel is one of the world’s largest Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC). It has 13 full cargo decks, five of them liftable, and a garage on deck 14. The access to the vessel is arranged through a 375-tonne stern ramp and a 22-tonne side ramp.
Attention has been paid on optimising the hull form in order to combine high cargo capacity and low fuel oil consumption. The vessel will emit only half of the CO2 per transported unit, compared with a conventional car carrier, Höegh said. Höegh Target and its sister vessels are given DNV GL’s class notification “CLEAN” for its cleaner design.
The vessel’s maiden voyage to Europe is set for early July.

At a ceremony at the Chinese yard Xiamen Shipbuilding Industries, the first vessel of Höegh Autoliners’ New Horizon-class series was named Höegh Target.
