First contract for newly designed Damen Offshore Carrier 7500

The Van Oord cable layer is based on the Damen Offshore Carrier (DOC 7500), a multi-purpose vessel specifically designed as a smaller heavy transport, offshore installation and RoRo platform suitable for multiple markets.
A large number of (offshore) installation equipment can be mounted on the vessel and the design can be adapted to create a dedicated ship, such as the vessel ordered by Van Oord.
With a length of 120m and a beam of 28m, the DP vessel will be equipped with a cable carousel of more than 5,000 tonnes and a heavy crane that will enable it to lay heavy and long export cables. Accommodation is available for 90 people.
