U.S. yard Moran Iron Works and Finnish company Watermaster have joined forces in an OEM partnership to offer dredgers designed by Watermaster for operation in United States waters.

Watermaster dredgers have been sold worldwide for 30 years, but not in the U.S.. Under the Jones Act, ships operating in U.S. domestic waters must be built in the United States. Moran Iron Works and Watermaster North America have partnered to build the Finnish-engineered AMD 5000 amphibious dredgers in North America.

The first Jones Act-compliant dredger is currently being manufactured at Moran Iron Works, in Onaway, Michigan.
