Finnish Government prepared to assist shipyards

The Cabinet Committee agreed on a meeting with the proposal by the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy to use government measures to get orders, primarily based on domestic ship deliveries, for the STX Finland Oy Turku shipyard during the spring of 2010. The proposed state support measures may include  innovation aid for the shipbuilding industry, publicly supported credit and guarantee arrangements for domestic ship orders, corresponding to export financing terms and support for environmentally friendly investments in sustainable new vessels by Finnish shipping companies (Ministry of Transport and Communications).
The precise content and volume will be decided later.
