Finnish Coast Guard chooses propulsion system

Finnish coastguard chooses Scania engines

For the ten patrol boats currently being constructed at Marine Alutech Oy AB in Finland the Finnish Coast Guard ordered 20 Scania engines.

Each of the ten boats, Watercat 1300 Patrol, will be powered by two Scania 12-litre engines with an output of 700 hp each.

The patrol boats will have a maximum speed of over 40 knots thanks to the combination of two 12-litre engines and waterjet propulsion. The concept is an ideal solution for coast guard, border guard, sea rescue and other similar tasks, as Scania states.
