Tasmania’s TT-Line Company has ordered two RoPax vessels at Finnish shipbuilder, Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC). The two ships are scheduled for delivery late in 2023 and at the end of 2024.

The 48,00gt ferries will accommodate 1,800 passengers each and will replace the Spirit of Tasmania I and II, both built in Finland in 1998. The latest contract means that RMC now has four commercial vessels on its order book. In addition to the latest order, the company is already building one RoPax vessel, Aurora Botnia, for Finland’s Wasaline, due for delivery in June.

The shipbuilder is also constructing the RoPax vessel MyStar for Estonian shipping company, Tallink. The vessel will have capacity for a total of about 3,000 passengers and crew, and 1,900 lane metres for rolling freight and other vehicles.

Additionally, RMC is building four multi-purpose corvettes for the Finnish Defence Forces.
