Shipping company, Erik Thun, from Sweden has signed a contract with Chinese yard China Merchants Jinling for a 17,999dwt dual-fuel tanker. The newbuilding, a sister vessel of Thun Venern, will be the tenth ship in the Vinga series, all trading within the Gothia Tanker Alliance. All vessels are designed with special focus on minimal impact on the environment. Erik Thun’s partner Furetank will technically and commercially manage the new vessel and upon delivery in 2024, the vessel will also enter the Gothia network.

All vessels in the series have dual-fuel capability and use liquified natural gas (LNG) or liquified biogas (LBG) as fuel. They are equipped with a battery hybrid system that reduces fuel and energy consumption resulting in lower emissions of carbon dioxide, sulphur oxide, nitrogen oxide and hazardous particles. The new vessel will also be fully equipped to operate cargo pumps with shore power. The tanker will have a cargo capacity of 20,306cu.m in twelve epoxy coated cargo tanks, ice class 1A and a powerful cargo handling system.
