Engines ordered for Brazil and Norway

A type 16V 4000 M63 MTU engine

The power systems company Rolls-Royce and the provider of propulsion solutions, Tognum, announced two orders for the supply of marine engines and propeller-rudder systems.

Tognum will deliver twelve type 16V 4000 M63 MTU engines to the Brazilian shipping company Camorim. With a capacity of 2,000 kW each, the engines will power Rolls-Royce propeller-rudder systems on six tugs, mainly used in offshore oil production operations.
The contract partner for the second order is Fjellstrand, a Norwegian shipyard. Four marine gensets based on MTU 16V 4000 M23S engines, each with a power output of 1,840kW, will be used to propel a multi-purpose offshore vessel operated by Norside Supporter AS. The
engines back up the Rolls-Royce propellers and automation system. Both orders have a total volume of EUR 5.8 million. Engine dispatch is scheduled for the end of 2012.
