Engine firms collaborate on turbocharger distribution

MAN Energy Solutions and Rolls-Royce Power Systems have signed an agreement enabling the MAN’s PBST brand to distribute mtu turbochargers for high-speed gas and diesel engines. This opens up a new sales channel for Rolls-Royce, in addition to Woodward L’Orange, and will enable PBST to expand its product portfolio, distributing the mtu range of ZR1 to ZR5 units under the series name HIRO in future.

The mtu turbochargers are suitable for engines in the 400-kW to 2,500-kW power range in single- and two-stage versions, and are available for marine, rail, construction and heavy land vehicles, as well as power supply.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems CTO and COO, Dr Otto Preiss, said: “Advanced turbocharging helps engines achieve low fuel consumption and high power over a wide speed range. It is an important building block for meeting increasingly stringent emission equirements in the future – without comproming engine performance or efficiency.”

Dr Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Energy Solutions, commented: “The mtu brand is characterised above all by its in-depth know-how in high-speed applications. Thanks to this product expansion, we are now able to offer our customers exactly the right turbocharger for their high-, medium- and low-speed applications under one roof via the PBST brand.”
