Dock-laying ceremony for offshore wind service vessel at Nordic Yards

Sketch of the offshore service vessel

Designed for service offshore wind turbines, the 80m-long and 32m-wide jack-up vessel can stand on four legs, enabling it to work in depths of up to 45m thanks to an innovative jacking system, the German shipbuilder said.
The onboard crane has a lifting capacity to service wind turbines ranging from 5 to 8 MW. In addition to DBB Jack-Up Services, the Danish ship design company OSK Ship Tech participated in the basic design. Nordic Yard has been responsible for the detailed design of the vessel; the jacking system is supplied by SH Group. The offshore wind service vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2014.

At Nordic Yards, a 390-tonne section of the wind turbine service jack-up vessel, ordered last year by the Danish company DBB Jack-Up Services, has been laid down in the Wismar dock.
