Design and equipment supply for new Norwegian trawler

Sketch of the new trawler

The shipyard has won the order from Gunnar Langva AS of Ålesund on the country’s west coast, and the 75m-long vessel will be the sixth successive fishing vessel to be named Gunnar Langva by the family-owned shipowner.
The trawler will be a NVC design and Rolls-Royce will supply a B33:45 diesel engine, a Promas integrated rudder and propeller system, and hydraulic winches. There will be 2,250m3 of storage for refrigerated sea water on board and 13 single cabins. Upon delivery in the third quarter of 2019, the trawler will fish for herring, mackerel, capelin and blue whiting, mostly in the North Sea and the north Atlantic.

Rolls-Royce has won a contract from Norway’s Westcon Yard to provide ship design and a range of equipment for a new purse seiner / pelagic trawler.
