Ship design firm, Deltamarin, has launched a new LNG-powered Kielmax feeder container ship design in its C.Delta series. The C.Delta2100 has ice-class capability and a container capacity of 2,100 TEU in four holds and on deck.

The design can be adapted to meet customer’s specific requirements, with various bespoke options.

The design has been developed with flexible operation in mind. The feeder is suitable for pallet-wide 40-foot container stowage and three tiers of high-cube containers in each hold. A large number of reefer slots reduces unnecessary container movements and simplifies cargo handling.

Deltamarin said that the C.Delta2100 is “future-proof” because it will be capable of operating on new low- or zero-carbon fuels in the future. Options for owners will include methanol, ammonia and hydrogen as fuels, a flexible number of reefer plugs, several ice classes, and possible installation of a PTO/PTI shaft generator.

Extensive model tests at the Hamburg Ship Model Basin, subsequently confirmed in sea trials, have demonstrated superior fuel efficiency and a low deadweight per unit of cargo, the company said.
