Delivery of Suezmax tanker in Brazil

The sister vessel of the Zumbi dos Palmares, the João Candido, the first Suezmax tanker in a series of ten built by Estaleiro Atlântico Sul for TransPetro, was named in 2010

Under PROMEF (Program for Modernization and Expansion of the Fleet), Transpetro has ordered a total of 28 ships.
With a length of 274.2m and a moulded breadth of 48m, the Zumbi dos Palmares has a payload of one million barrels of crude oil, equivalent to half of Brazil’s daily production, and will primarily ply international routes.
Powered by an MAN B&W 6S70ME-C type prime mover and three MAN 7L23/30H auxiliary engines, it reaches a speed of 24.8 knots at a range of 20,000 miles.

The Suezmax tanker Zumbi dos Palmares, the second vessel that is built by Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS) within the Brazilian Government’s PROMEF shipbuilding programme, was recently delivered to Transpetro, Brazil’s largest hydrocarbon transportation company and a fully owned subsidiary of Petrobras.
