Shipyard group, Damen, has won an order for a utility vessel 3911 from the Port of Jamaica. The vessel will be deployed on buoy-laying and maintenance operations in the ports of the island nation.
The 39.4m-long vessel, with a crew of up to twelve, will have an A-frame with a 50-tonne capability and a towing winch designed for remote operation from the wheelhouse. It will be outfitted at Damen Maaskant Shipyard Stellendam in the Netherlands.
The Port of Jamaica has an established relationship with the shipyard group, having previously ordered two Stan Tugs 2909 and two Pilot Vessels 1605. The utility vessel is due for delivery in the first half of 2021.
