Damen Fast Crew Supplier launched and named

The FCS 2710 is named Tumar, which means protector. It will undertake search and rescue, firefighting, oil spill response, medical assistance and other emergency duties to protect lives and critical infrastructure.

A launch and naming ceremony has been held by Damen, marking the completion of Tumar, a Fast Crew Supplier 2710 (FCS), for Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations. Sea trials are scheduled for September.

The vessel was only ordered in May, but Damen’s build-for-stock strategy has enable a short supply interval. The FCS was ordered by Teniz Zhasagy, a division of the Kazakhstan Ministry.

The Tumar, which means protector, is a Twin Axe hull design and will be deployed in a various roles including search and rescue, firefighting, oil spill response, medical assistance, and other emergency duties. 

Murat Mukhanov, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, commented: “I would like to express my thanks to Damen for the positive and constructive cooperation we have had. The results of this are plain to see in this impressive vessel. I have full confidence in the capabilities of Tumar to fulfil the important responsibility of preserving life and infrastructure in Kazakh waters.”
