Cutting of the first steel plate for the vessel, called Minerva, took place on February 4, 2016. The vessel will use dual-fuel diesel or liquefied natural gas (LNG) for its main engines. The ship will be equipped with 80-centimetre suction tubes, suitable for dredging to a depth of 30m. the dredging material will be discharged through three bottom doors. The vessel will be 86.2m long, 17.3m wide and have a 5m loaded draught.

Bulgaria’s MTG Dolphin Shipyard said it is building a 3,500cu.m trailing suction hopper dredger in cooperation with Dutch group IHC for Belgian customer DEME.
