Cutter suction dredgers to improve water management
The aim is to improve the water management throughout the country. The Damen cutter suction dredgers all play a vital part in deepening rivers, raising river banks and maintaining reservoirs. The National Water Management Project is managed by Senagua, a government body who owns and operates the dredgers.
The cutter suction dredgers have been fitted out with a large number of options, such as anchor booms, a spud carriage pontoon, a stern swivel and navigation lights. Two dredgers are of type CSD450 named “Daule Peripa” and “Poza Honda”. Two dredgers are of type CSD500. “Senagua” and “La Esperanza” work on various river maintenance jobs.
For the two CSD 450 and the CSD 500 dredger “Senagua” all parts were delivered by Damen and assembled in Ecuador by Astinave and Damen staff. The CSD500 “La Esperanza” was completely built at Astinave. Damen Dredging Equipment had shipped main components to the yard; all pontoons were built locally. A Damen Field Service engineer surveyed the construction and the trained the crew – and found even some time to judge a local Miss election.
