Conversion completed

The 54m-long vessel arrived at the Platinum Yacht Repair facility at Dubai Maritime City in June 2013 and underwent extensive modification and refit

The work scope on Al Hail 1 included exterior and interior refurbishments, hydro-blasing and painting, overhaul of equipment and valves, refurbishment of wheelhouse, toilets and vacuum systems and an upgrade of generators and air conditioning systems.
All the equipment was already tested in sea trials.
Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World, commented, “With the unprecedented development taking place in the region and in Dubai in particular, which is reinforced by its Expo 2020 win, more marinas are expected to be developed and hence more yachts will be available in the region. This calls for readily accessible and sophisticated repair and maintenance facilities. The Platinum Yacht Repair facility not only addresses this niche’ segment but also caters to small-to mid-size vessels that require refit and refurbishment.”

Platinum Yacht Repair, the yacht repair and maintenance arm of Drydocks World & Maritime World, Dubai, said it had successfully completed the conversion of the landing craft Al Hail 1 to a RoRo vessel for civilian usage.
