Construction of NCL’s fourth Breakaway Plus-class ship begins

Andy Stuart, president of the cruise line, accompanied by Tim Meyer, the shipbuilder’s managing director, pushed the button on the computer-controlled cutting machine, beginning a construction process that will continue until the 167,800gt ship is delivered in 2019.  
The latest Breakaway Plus-class vessel, which will have capacity for almost 4,000 passengers, incorporates a range of sustainable features including emission control systems, environmentally friendly power plant, waste heat recovery plant, highly efficient electric motors, LED lighting, the most effective coatings to reduce resistance, and lightweight components.
Before the steel-cutting ceremony, NCL executives and other attendees were given a guided tour through the shipyard’s covered building dock where the Norwegian Encore’s sister ship, Norwegian Bliss, is currently undergoing its final construction stages.
