CIMAC Congress 2019 addresses current challenges in the large engine industry

The opening of the 29th CIMAC Congress at the Vancouver Convention Centre also gave an impression of the culture of the Squamish Nation

From June 10th to 14th, the 29th CIMAC World Congress is being held in Vancouver, Canada. Being started with an impressive opening ceremony, the Congress is regarded as the most important platform for information exchange and personal contact of stakeholders in the large engine sector. It brings together engine and component manufacturers, engineers, researchers, shipowners, ship operators and regulators from around the world and creates the perfect forum to share knowledge and views on today’s pressing topics.
The Congress offers a high-quality technical programme with almost 300 lectures, poster sessions, interesting discussion panels and a newly added speakers’ corner, in which participants and experts can discuss special topics in brief sessions.
During the opening ceremony, CIMAC’s president, Klaus M. Heim welcomed the participants and emphasised the historical importance of this year’s Congress. Never before has the industry seen such dramatic changes as these days, Helm said. Stepping into a new era of defossilisation and digitalisation, experts have to interact on a global scale in order to cope with the huge challenges, he pointed out.
