CIMAC Circle in Norway

The CIMAC NMA Norway is organising a CIMAC Circle at NorShipping in Oslo on May 26, 2011. It will be a 2 hours' panel discussion on the topic LNG as fuel for deep sea shipping.

The awareness of the advantages of LNG as marine fuel has been increasingly growing in the past years. Gaseous fuels provide considerable reductions of harmful emissions to the environment, compared to fuel oil. LNG offers also several advantages over fuel oil with regards to engine operation and maintenance as well as possibilities for exhaust gas after treatment.
The issue has been raised at several occasions (amongst others at the CIMAC Circle at NORSHIPPING 2009) and LNG emerges as a realistic alternative to fuel oil for short sea shipping and traffic on inland waterways in certain areas. The Norwegian CIMAC Committee thinks it is time to take the discussion a step further. Concepts for LNG-operation for ocean going vessels have already been launched by reputed representatives within the shipping industry dealing with technical solutions as well as availability and logistics for LNG.

Participation is free of charge after registration at the Norwegian CIMAC NMA latest by May 18, 2011.
