Block assembly of Ovation of the Seas begins

The keel-laying ceremony for the Ovation of the Seas recently took place in Papenburg

The first of a total of 74 blocks of the cruise liner weighs 740 tonnes. The block-assembly ceremony (keel-laying) marks the official start of construction of the Ovation of the Seas.
For the time being the 168,600gt cruise vessel is one of the biggest the shipyard has built so far.
Delivery of the Ovation of the Seas to its owner, Royal Caribbean International, is scheduled for the spring of 2016.  Its sister ship, the Anthem of the Seas, currently also under construction at Meyer Werft, will be handed over this April.
Each ship can accommodate 4,180 guests in 2,090 staterooms.

The first block of the new cruise ship Ovation of the Seas was recently lifted into the covered building dock of Meyer Werft in Papenburg.
