The 28,000dwt ConRo, Baltic Enabler, has been named in Zeebrugge; Belgium, and christened by Anette Johansson, wife of Wallenius Sol managing director, Ragnar Johansson. The 242m-long vessel, with Super 1A ice class, has a cargo capacity of 6,442 lane metres (962 TEU) with space for trailers, containers, industrial loads and high and heavy project cargo consignments.

The vessel, together with sister ship, Botnia Endeavour, have been designed with multi-fuel engines capable of running on LNG, LBG, diesel and synthetic diesel. They will operate a weekly service linking Zeebrugge, Antwerp, Kokkola, Oulo, Kemi, Skellefteå, and Travemünde. The two vessels will eliminate SOx, NOx and particulates almost entirely and will slash greenhouse gas emissions by 63% per cargo unit shipped, their owner, Wallenius Sol, said in a statement.
