ARES bags huge patrol boat contract

The contract includes coast guard and police vessels (Source: ARES)

ARES Shipyard, based in Antalya, has been awarded an order to build 122 fibreglass-reinforced plastic and carbon composite patrol boats of 12m length for the Turkish Government. The vessels will be delivered within six years. Some 105 of the boats will be allocated to the Coast Guard Command and 17 to the Police General Directorate.

The yard said it will deliver six boats every two months depending on its production programme. Construction is to start this month and the yard plans to deliver the prototype vessel by December 2020. The vessels will be equipped with twin HJX29 waterjets from HamiltonJet controlled by Bluearrow. The compact, high-performance reverse duct, and optimised JT steering system offers precise 360-degree manoeuvrability, including at low speeds.
