Alliance agreement between BP Shipping & Navantia Shiprepairs

The signing ceremony included the inauguration of BP's new permanent offices in Navantia Ferrol.
Following a thorough pre-qualification and auditing process by BP Shipping of Navantia's commercial, technical and QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) standards in 2005, the commercial relationship between BP Shipping and Navantia started with the award of the drydocking and repair contract for British Merlin. In the course of the following years, a number of other vessels from BP's fleet of oil tankers and gas carriers completed repairs and maintenance in Navantia's shiprepair centres in Fene-Ferrol and Cadiz-San Fernando.
As a result of a competitive tender process, Navantia was identified as BP Shipping's shiprepair yard of choice in Europe and subsequently management representatives from both companies developed a close working relationship with the aim of implementing a long term strategic alliance.
