Wärtsilä has signed two more ‘Lifecycle Agreements’ with Nautica Ship Management relating to exhaust gas treatment systems on board two feeder container ships fitted with hybrid scrubber installations.

The systems for the 2019-built MTT Saisunee and the 2020-built MTT Senari follow similar arrangements on two other Nautica vessels, MTT Samalaju and MTT Semporna, both built in 2021.

The agreements enable remote access by Wärtsilä specialists to ensure that the systems operate as effectively as possible and that any issues are managed promptly with minimal downtime.

Azreen Nor Bin Mohamad, Nautica Ship Management senior technical superintendent, explained: “It is central to our commitment to sustainable operations that the scrubber systems on these vessels are working with optimal efficiency. This enables the ships to comply with the relevant environmental regulations. We know Wärtsilä well, and our experience with their agreements on other vessels in our fleet has been excellent. It was natural, therefore, that we continue this relationship for these two vessels.”

Wärtsilä’s Singapore area sales manager, David Xu, said: “We are pleased to recognize Nautica’s professional approach to maintaining and future-proofing their fleet and are proud to support them with this agreement. We constantly upgrade and improve our solutions in line with the latest and best available technology. Our 24/7 service, and especially the remote access feature, gives us the opportunity to provide immediate support and troubleshooting for these vessels while delivering important cost savings.”

Wärtsilä claims that its Lifecycle Agreements provide long-term cost predictability and consistent uptime by using data to underpin technical support and maintenance requirements. Ship operators benefit from expert support and recommendations that optimise maintenance intervals according to actual requirements, thereby preventing unexpected downtime.
