StormGeo to join DNV GL’s Veracity network
Weather intelligence provider StormGeo and classification society DNV GL have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in preparation for the integration of the company’s fleet performance and weather data on the classification society’s open data platform, Veracity. StormGeo customers will benefit from more services while Veracity users will have access to integrated weather intelligence on the Veracity Marketplace.
“Today, StormGeo offers an integrated solution to span navigation and voyage planning, weather routeing and fleet performance management,ˮ said Thilo Dückert, vice president of Fleet Performance Management at StormGeo. “We believe this partnership signals the industry that we intend to further enhance our service portfolio to help clients improve safety and fuel efficiency of their vessels.ˮ Mikkel Skou, director of Veracity at DNV GL, commented: “With Veracity, we have built an independent network of industry relevant companies, where the members of the network can buy, combine, share and collaborate on data to optimise their operation – all while knowing their data is safe and secure throughout the process. StornGeo is an important supplier to many of Veracity’s customers and we have received interest from our clients for stronger integration with StormGeo in our platform products.ˮ
The MoU follows an earlier move in which DNV GL’s ECO Insight and Navigator Insight were consolidated with StormGeo’s FleetDSS and ship reporting systems. StormGeo services including weather routeing, intelligence, navigation planning and fleet performance are now used by more than 12,000 vessels.
