Stena RoRo has acquired the RoRo freight ferry, Giuseppe Lucchesi, from Compagnie Italiana de Navigazione S.p.A., a Moby Lines S.p.A., company and will rename it the Stena Shipper. Now flying the Danish flag, the vessel is to be deployed between Marseille and Rades in Tunisia following Stena RoRo’s takeover of the service from Cotunav.

The 193m-long vessel was built in 2012 by Denmark’s Odense shipyard. It has a capacity of 3,663 lane-metres, distributed over four decks, and a speed of 21 knots.

Stena RoRo managing director, Per Westling, said: “This acquisition is part of our continuing expansion of our fleet, broadening our offering and strengthening our position in the market. The Stena Shipper is the last ship in a long series of sister ships built at the Danish Odense shipyard and has a large cargo capacity, which combined with a low fuel consumption, provides good environmental characteristics.”
