The classification society RINA Services and the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association (HSSA) have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen their relationships in the areas of ship classification, safety, environmental protection awareness and training of personnel.

Commenting on the cooperation agreement, Charalampos Simantonis, chairman of the HSSA, said, “The Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association is aiming to increase the quality of services provided and the awareness of its members in a very competitive European and international environment. We need to be more prepared for the challenges of the future regarding new environmental regulations, Port State Control, alternative fuels and other new technologies. We share many common views and values with RINA and this agreement will help our members by giving them better access to RINA’s expertise.”
“RINA is committed to help its clients protect their assets as well as the environment. The HSSA is a very active association that wants to further develop, and we are ready to support their efforts with our specialist knowledge and services,” Spyros Zolotas, RINA’s area manager for Greece and Cyprus added.
