OceanScore unveils FuelEU Pooling Marketplace
Hamburg-based emissions consultancy, OceanScore, has opened a new FuelEU Pooling Marketplace to support owners, managers and operators to manage their FuelEU requirements in connecting with reliable pooling partners in one place. The new setup is available either on a standalone basis or as part of the company’s Compliance Manager system.
Pooling under the FuelEU regulation in Europe is one of the most cost-effective ways in which to manage compliance costs, the company says. However, it is a challenging framework in which significant costs can either be generated or offset, with careful management. Under the new Marketplace, users can review possible counterparties and their offers, selecting the most suitable ones before contacting them to agree terms on a specific transaction.
In a move to support straightforward negotiations, the company is working with London law firm, Clyde & Co, to offer a streamlined template for pooling arrangements. Clients can use the standard agreement as a basis for drafting their own contracts, with specific terms.
The Marketplace is designed to support OceanScore’s expanding customer base, rather than a standalone business. Unlike other systems which require joining fees, commissions and sometimes hidden charges, the system is based on a single annual fee for an entire fleet.
Managing director, Albrecht Grell, commented: “We built the Marketplace to reflect what our customers have been asking for: a clear, practical way to manage FuelEU compliance without incurring unnecessary complexity and costs … We believe the future of maritime compliance lies in making complexity manageable, and in building the tools to do that transparently. This is just the next step.”
