Marlink and Quadrille launch news channel for seafarers

Maritime communications company Marlink and software partner Quadrille are extending their existing partnership with the launch of a dedicated news and information channel for seafarers. The multi-language Marlink channel, XChange Media, is a subscription service designed to support the mental well-being of ships’ crews.

The new service is available at an introductory price allowing ship operators to try the channel and gauge the benefits before subscribing. XChange Media will provide news, updated daily, to ships anywhere in the world, the companies said.

Marlink President, Tore Morten Olsen, commented: “Like may critical service providers to the maritime industry, we are acutely aware of the need for the latest news and information from trustworthy and credible sources in these times, especially during a global pandemic which forces thousands of seafarers to remain on board.

“Having a reliable feed of information available in multiple languages is a positive benefit for owners and crew alike, at a time when seafarers may be on board ship for extended periods.”

Xavier Battas, Quadrille CEO, added: “Quadrille makes broadcasting possible to customers in many remote locations and regions and we are pleased to have concluded an extended agreement with Marlink, especially at this time when connectivity and connections are so important. We believe the service will quickly prove its value to seafarers and become a regular part of their lives on board the ship.”
