Automated stacking crane presented

The presented Kalmar ASC+

The provider of cargo and load handling solutions, Cargotec, introduced the ASC+ model of its Kalmar automated stacking crane during this year’s TOC Container Supply Chain Europe exhibition in Antwerp, Belgium.

The new ASC+ is said to be the first of a new range that emphasises modularity throughout the design, ensuring a seamless match with any terminal and allowing for customisation to application requirements. According to Cargotec, the crane features stiffness in the portal and rope-reeving systems, which simplifies the design and hence the maintenance and precautions required. The crane design is said to be optimised to reach better performance with reduced weight of the crane and the spreader, thereby reducing energy use and life-cycle costs. It also features intelligent idle-time management and regeneration of energy during lowering and braking. The operation speeds for gantry are up to 300m/min, trolley up to 90m/min, and hoisting up to 120m/min.
