Anschütz is supplying Integrated Navigation and Bridge Systems for three vessels under construction at the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard near Bremen for the German Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV).

The Synapsis systems provide integrated radar, ECDIS, and navigation sensors which provide ships’ crews with detailed and precise information about the environment to ensure safe navigation and manoeuvring.

The first of the three vessels, Scharhörn, has already undergone tests during sea trials and is now close to delivery. The vessel has six Synapsis NX multifunctional workstations, an autopilot, and a range of navigation sensors. A dynamic positioning system and motion sensors are also part of the setup.

Philip Kankelfitz, head of Commercial Sales at Anschütz, said: “Synapsis is an efficient, standardised integrated navigation system that we can customise to meet specific customer requirements. Its modular architecture ensures straightforward and secure integration at all times, enabling perfect adaptation to the wide range of operations carried out by these ships.”

The vessels are designed for a range of task including the installation and upkeep of navigation markers, water policing, pollution control, firefighting, emergency response, and the deployment of hydroacoustic equipment.
