The first two service operation vessels (SOVs) for offshore wind parks in China had their keel-laying ceremony at the Chinese shipyard Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC).

The newbuildings of Ulstein series SX195 and SX197 are being built for energy company Shanghai Electric. Delivery is scheduled for late 2023 and early 2024.

The two vessels feature the distinctive X-Bow® and X-Stern® and can accommodate 60 (SX197) and 100 (SX195) persons on board. According to Ulstein, the ship designs are characterised by optimised operating capacities as well as high performance and economy. To reduce emissions, the SOVs are equipped with additional battery packs.
