After a competitive selection process, STX France has been awarded the order for the design, construction, installation and commissioning of the 309-MW Rentel offshore sub-station to be installed about 32km off the Belgian coast. Delivery is scheduled for 2018. STX France will perform the design, fabrication, offshore installation and commissioning of the mono-pile type foundation of about 1,600 tonnes weight and the substation topsides unit of about 1,200 tonnes including high voltage electrical equipment. Design work has already started and construction is expected to start from the fourth quarter of 2016.

French yard STX France SA said its offshore energy division has won a contract from offshore wind power company Rentel NV to build an offshore electricity substation for operation off Belgium.
