Purpose-built crew vessels to be built for US offshore wind project

U.S. renewable energy company Deepwater Wind is actively seeking proposals from Massachusetts boat builders for the construction of purpose-built crew vessels to support an offshore wind power project off the state.

Construction work on the Revolution Wind project off Massachusetts will begin in 2020, with the project in operations in 2023. Deepwater Wind wants purpose-built crew vessels for Revolution Wind. The company is expected to issue a formal request for information to local suppliers in the coming weeks. Deepwater Wind’s additional wind farms serving Massachusetts will require the construction of additional vessels.
