Order for oil spill detection systems secured
Delivery will begin immediately, and is anticipated to be completed in April 2011.
As Rutter states, this purchase by Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is intended to enhance offshore skimming capabilities during night time operations as well as during times of decreased visibility. The majority of these units are to be deployed on boats and barges operating in the Gulf of Mexico.
Rutter’s Oil Spill Detection and Management Systems are currently in operation on vessels operating in Brazil, Norway, Egypt and the United States. The Sigma S6 radar technology is said to provide operators with real-time information about the volume and thickest areas of an oil slick in order to maximize recovery efforts.
