Wärtsilä has announced two contracts for the designs of new offshore vessels.

One was signed with China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL) to supply the designs for six new ships. The two platform supply vessels (PSVs) and four anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels will initially provide support operations in the South China Sea and Bohai Bay.
The 85.4m-long and 20m-wide PSVs are based on the VS 485 PSV MKIII design that offers a highly energy and environmentally efficient vessel solution with an optimised hull design for greater efficiency, the system provider said. The 74.1m-long and 18m-wide AHTS vessels are to be constructed according to the VS 4612 AHTS design.
Furthermore, Wärtsilä has signed a contract for the design of a new diving support vessel (DSV) to be built for Subsea 7, at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in South Korea. The VS 4725 DSV design has been created by Wärtsilä Ship Design specifically for this vessel. Upon its delivery, which is scheduled for 2015, the 123m-long and 24m-wide vessel will be employed in the North Sea on a year-round basis.  The DSV is to be equipped with the latest integrated diving equipment, while a three-split engine and propulsion configuration ensures the highest level of redundancy.
