New high-speed crew tender "unsinkable"

After three years of building fast, sustainable workboats made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the Dutch boat builder Tideman Boats BV has now presented a new high-speed professional crew tender.

As a manufacturer of indestructible high-speed HDPE workboats, this is a logical step forward in our range of professional rigid buoyancy boats (RBB)”, said Bruno Tideman, CEO of Tideman Boats.
The RBB 800 2WJ crew tender has Bureau Vertitas approval of its hull construction (X-hull, small high-speed craft), twin Yanmar 4LHA-HTP diesel engines (160hp each) and two Alamarin 245 waterjets. It reaches a cruising speed of 30 knots at a displacement of 4.5 tonnes, and has a range of 100 nautical miles.
Tideman Boats said the available options in its RBB range included hull lengths of 6m, 7m or 8m, outboard propulsion or inboard diesel engines with waterjet or stern drive, and a closed wheelhouse or open deck plan. The modular system makes the vessel fit for purpose for professional users, according to the company.
This first release of the new 8.5m crew tender is standard-equipped with Ullman compact suspension seats for two crew members and six passengers. The six passenger seats can be removed to create a 4m2 cargo area with lasing eyes. Standard are four lifting lugs, T-top with bimini and A-frame. The PU foam fenders are detachable. The aluminium console and engine room hatch can be powder-coated in any colour.
The vessel can be moved on a trailer and stored inside a 40' HC container in combination with a workshop. This turnkey solution, Tideman Boats said, provides safe storage and easy transport and operation.
As the company describes them, Dutch HDPE workboats have a low carbon footprint and are extremely impact-resistant, lightweight, 100% recyclable, UV-resistant, easy to repair, inert to salt, chemicals and fuel, and even arctic- and tropic-proof. What's more, they are not subject to corrosion or fouling, lack vulnerable air tubes, have 50% more deck space and closed buoyancy compartments filled with polyethylene balls that make them unsinkable.
