New cable-lay vessel handed over

The Siem Aimery was recently delivered

The "state-of-the-art" vessel, named the Siem Aimery, was designed for the installation and repair of medium- and high-voltage submarine cables in the North Sea, the Gdansk-headquartered shipbuilder said. It will be operated by a 60-strong crew, mostly engaged in laying, lifting and maintaining submarine cables. The CLV is equipped with two carousels low in the hull and a hangar-based cable deck.
Its diesel-electric propulsion system consists of four main generators providing power to two azimuth propulsion thrusters, two tunnel thrusters and one retractable thruster, ensuring excellent station-keeping capability as well as environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient marine operations, according to Remontowa. The company said the vessel met the most stringent requirements and highest standards of environmental protection and navigational safety, and carried the Clean Design class notation.

Remontowa Shipbuilding has handed over a new cable-lay vessel (CLV) to its owner, Norway's Siem Offshore.
