Maersk Supply to provide two anchor handlers for Gorgon project

The AHTS vessel Maersk Mariner will be deployed in the Gorgon field drilling programme in Australia

The Maersk Mariner and the Maersk Master, supported from the company’s shore base in Perth, will provide towing, anchor handling and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services.
The two vessels, delivered in 2017, are the first in a series of six ships in the Starfish class. They are designed for maximum fuel efficiency, reliability and safety. Three more vessels in the class has been commissioned in the meantime, with the sixth ship due to for delivery early this year.
“We are proud to have the opportunity to utilise the advanced capabilities of these new vessels to deliver a superior service and contribute to the offshore development of this important project for the region,” commented David Lofthouse, head of Commercial Asia Pacific for Maersk Supply Service.
The two vessels have been working in Western Australia since September 2017 and March 2018, respectively. 

Chevron Australia is to charter two Maersk Supply Service anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels for the second stage of its Gorgon field drilling progamme on the North West Shelf in Western Australia, starting in the second quarter of this year.
