Maersk Drilling names fourth ultra-deep-water drillship

During the naming ceremony of the Maersk Voyager

Maersk Drilling’s latest ultra-deep-water drillship was recently named in a ceremony held at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard in Geoje-Si, South Korea. Maersk Voyager is the last vessel in a series of four ultra-deep-water drillships.

Maersk Voyager is scheduled to be delivered from SHI in the fourth quarter of 2014. For the time being it remains without a first contract.
“The short-term floater market is challenged, but we remain in discussions with several oil companies regarding short-term as well as long term drilling campaigns for the Maersk Voyager,” said Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO of Maersk Drilling and member of the executive board in the Maersk Group.
The four drillships were ordered in 2011 and represent a total investment of USD 2.6 billion.
