Large HVAC order for offshore platform

Image of the HelWin2 platform

The platform measures 98 by 42m, has five decks, is more than 27m high and weighs about 10,000 tonnes. Ready for operation in the summer of 2014, it will be located close to Helgoland, 85km northwest of a cable landing point in Büsum, Germany. Heerema Zwijndrecht B.V. is the main contractor, who received the total order from Siemens Germany, on  behalf of TenneT. The HelWin2 offshore platform converts alternating current of wind turbines to direct current, before it is transported via subsea cables to land.
Imtech Marine said that this was the largest HVAC order it had ever acquired. It will provide all areas on the platform with air treatment solutions. The high-tech air treatment will be provided via air handling units and chillers (cold water makers). Fancoil units take care of local cooling or heating.

Imtech Marine Netherlands has signed a contract with Heerema Fabrication Group (Zwijndrecht, Netherlands) to supply the offshore converting platform HelWin2 with all heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
